Normal, healthy skin has an even tone. However, in some instances blood vessels rupture beneath the skin resulting in reddish or purplish patches called vascular lesions. When located on the face, neck or another area of the body that is difficult to conceal, a vascular lesion can cause social anxiety and low self-esteem.
Vascular lesions appear in a variety of sizes, shapes, and color densities and can be congenital (present at birth) or develop and become visible over time. Congenital vascular lesions include port-wine stains, salmon patches, hemangiomas, lymphangiomas and other vein-related malformations. Vascular lesions that occur later in life include cherry angiomas, varicose veins, and spider veins.
At TruZen Medspa, we offer laser therapy as a safe and effective treatment for eradicating a wide range of vascular lesions to reveal healthier, smoother skin.
Laser Vascular Lesion Removal
Laser treatment is the most effective method of eliminating vascular lesions in most bodily areas.
During treatment, laser energy is focused on a targeted area to deliver precise dosages to each vein without harming neighboring skin cells. The laser energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood vessels within the lesion, causing the blood vessel to close and be slowly absorbed by the body.
TruZen Medspa is equipped to treat the following types of lesions:
- Broken capillaries or telangiectasia
- Port wine birthmarks
- Hemangioma
- Cherry angiomas
- Venous lakes of the lip
- Rosacea
- Keratosis pilaris
- Leg veins
- And more
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Most lesions appear less noticeable immediately after treatment and continue to fade over the next few days. However, the number of treatments needed depends on the size, depth, and severity of the vascular lesion. For example, small vascular lesions such as cherry angiomas may require only 1-2 treatments whereas larger, deeper vascular lesions, will require a series of treatments to achieve the desired results. The team at TruZen Medspa will assess your condition and recommend the treatment schedule most suited to your individual needs and goals.
What to Expect
Laser treatment sessions are performed on an outpatient basis and can last from to 45 minutes per session, depending on the area being treated. Some patients may experience a slight stinging sensation during the procedure; the treatment area also may feel slightly warm for a few hours following treatment.
There is no post-treatment downtime with most patients returning to normal daily activities immediately. For optimal results, apply sunscreen to the treated area and avoid excessive sun exposure.
